Spanish Gambas ~ Tapas Pil Pil

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

This is one of my favorite quick eats, a constant reminder of the summer that I miss so much at the moment. I came across it when I first visited Spain back in 2004. Gosh, time flies! It’s the easiest recipe in the world and  impresses so many of my friends. A perfect glam bbq starter. You can either serve it as a starter or double up the portion and use it a main course, completely up to you.

Ingredients:

20 peeled prawns (gambas) (if you cannot get fresh prawns or do not like cooking with them then you can use pre-cooked prawns but adjust the cooking time so as to warm through thoroughly as opposed to cooking them)

3 tablespoons of olive oil
3 cloves of garlic, chopped and crushed
2 chilly peppers or 2 teaspoons chilly powder
pinch of cayenne or red pepper
1 tablespoon flat leaf parsley, chopped
salt and fresh ground pepper

Preparation:

Put olive oil, garlic cloves, chili peppers, and cayenne pepper in an low earthenware pot. Heat at medium heat or until the oil begins to sizzle. Meanwhile peel and wash the prawns. Dry them off with a paper towel and add them to the pot. Cook the prawns for about six minutes, 3 minutes on either side, or until they begin to turn pink and curl slightly. sprinkle with the parsley and serve at once. As with every other tapas dish, Gambas al Ajillo is traditionally served with a bowl of bread.

You can also add some tomatoes (pealed and pureed) to the sauce, before adding the prawns. It adds the sweetness to the taste and dipping the bread in is just too delicious! I hope you make this soon and enjoy it as much as we do.

Mum & Me

I was 5 when my dad took this picture.I remember his new Nikon film camera.(and all the adjusting) It’s one of my favorite picture with my mum. I remember the moment it was taken. I remember the smell of the wild roses in the air and my Mum whispering in my ear softly. I remember everything. My mum made all my clothes then. Than jeans skirt was a height of fashion in 1985 🙂 I posted this pic on the 8th of March, on the International Women s day. Growing up in then communist society we didn’t celebrate or had Mothers day like we do today. It was still good, don’t get me wrong. 🙂 Love you mum!

My best friend draw this painting of me, on my office wall:-)… while waiting for me to finish  my meeting. I don’t get enough girls day’s out unfortunately!!! With my line of job and all the work on weekends it is hard to find some time off & just hang out. Luckily this was one of my free Saturday. We went out for some lovely lunch in our local Italian (Zizi’s) followed up by a Zombie room-com in cinema. Yeah boys and girls, that’s one romantic zombie movie. “he’s still dead but he’s getting warmer” is what got me into the cinema. Warm Bodies watch now.

My Cactus family. Papa cactus was given to me by my old boss back in 2009. In the meantime my family has grown to mama & papa  in 2010 and a little boy came out in 2011 followed by a little girl. I tough they should all have their own space so I’ve transplanted them in separate pots. In used old candle jars to house them all. Not bad for a girl who can’t water the plant.

This is fresh from the jar. I just came back from 4 days 3 night in Poland, Krakow. It was cold,/rainy and snowing but worth every second. I love European towns and their quirkiness.  We found this place while strolling down the Jewish quarter. It just started to snow and we needed to stop and have a deserved break after hours of walking. The decor is just brilliant. If I can have a bar/coffee shop one day it would look like this, old mixed with new with the cool gang to crouch in. Coffee is on us.

My week on instagram

We were working in Nottingham last week and also went to see new Bond, James Bond. It’s definitely one of my favorite Bond movies. The sky was so pink before we went out. You can tell that the winter is coming. You could fell it up north. Fell it in your bones.

I love water. I was born and raised by the sea. Oh how I miss looking at the waves breaking endlessly on the rocky Croatian coast. This was my view from the lovely restaurant where we celebrated J. granddad’s 90th birthday. Yeah, you heard me right, 90!

I had a lovely glass of red wine with my steak & chips. I dressed up a bit, as we did celebrated last 90 years of Jeff’s life. I wore my new cross earnings I bought on Asos.

This is one of my favorite places in England. The Olde Bell inn in Hurley, Berkshire. We have been working with them ever since we started S-I seven years ago. We are one of their preferred suppliers. I love spending time in The Bell especially as their interiors are designed by very talented Ilse Crawford. Looking for a wedding venue? Check them out. And then book us. 🙂

These babies were bough for £18. I kid you not! I got them a few years ago in a small shop in Covent Garden. They only come out for walks once in a while. Hence the pristine condition.

Today I’ve watched rain drops falling on the buildings around me. It’s been cold and wet this past week and I fell for all the people who had their homes flooded…We are very lucky to have our home safe and intact of rain. For now anyway.

Happy Instagraming, x Ines
