Winter Cosy

I have a confession to make. I’ve started buying Country Living & Country Homes & Interiors. I even asked my other half for a year subscription the other day. A perfect Christmas present. I mean whats the point of buying me something I don’t like? So this year I decided to ask for my presents in advance. Don’t get me wrong trough. I’m still really into my Vouge & Glamour and the joys of walking into shop spotting them on the shelves it’s beyond indescribable. However we have a house now, a home and its getting cold out there baby!

I’ve noticed this lovely duvet set in Country Living magazine the other day and I’m seriously considering to spend some monies. I just love the warm neutral colors and all the  patterns. I think it would look beautiful in my bedroom. I want it. I am always on a lookout for something new to buy and add to my home. Some cosy snoozy warm textiles to fill the space up & empty the wallet. Oh, the joys of spotting & SHOPing.

Coasters, a never ending love story

I am not OTT, I’m really not. However it does pis**s me off when people don’t use coasters. I mean what is the point of having them displayed on your table if you don’t use them?! Fair play if you don’t have them. You probably don’t own that nice coffee table like I do or stress over what damage a can of beer can produce. OTT again? Nope!

I bought my set of coasters from Portobello market almost a year ago now. Portobello is great for retro-vintage finds and this is one of mine. My favorite coaster is a Wonder woman. Guess why? 🙂

You can tell we use them by how dirty they look on these pictures. OTT in your face! I know, I should have clean them before this shoot.

Now about that never ending love story…Boy goes for a drink in a bar….

There he meets a lovely lady and they chat, drink wine and beer & dance…

He asks her out for a romantic dinner and they fell in love over the candle lights…

They marry after a while  and live the never ending story….

These coasters were present from Santa Fe, USA. My parents in-law went there this spring. They did a route 66! How cool is that? They know about my obsession with Mexican art & skulls and this was one of many lovely presents they bought us. Thanks guys.

Yours truly romantic, Ines

Things I Like In Our Country Cottage – small tour

Autumn is one on my favorite seasons of the year. It is not to cold but it is not boiling hot either. Like we ever get boiling hot in this country anyway! Now I’m talking about the weather…anyway it makes me want to spend more time indoors, re arranging our space back & forth.   Today I wanted to share a few bits & pieces I have accumulated in my home over the past few years. These are the things that make my hearth worm in these cold nights :

My shabby chic coffee table. We bought it a few months after we moved to our cottage and trust me guys, it wasn’t cheap but it was/is worth every penny. I am sure you have heard about Steven Shell designs? They make beautiful hand-made stuff, worth checking out if you need that “one”statement piece in your home. And do make sure to have your vintage crochet blanket together with some chocolate biscuits from McVitie’s  by your hand. Keeps you even warmer…

I wish I can say I have a favorite room in my house, but I don’t. I like them all equally. I love spending time in my kitchen and this is where I’m taking you next.

This is the space I really like. My kitchen bay window. It comes as original feature of the house and I use it to display my favorite bits and bobs of the moment. Also very handy for preparing foods and drinks as it’s huge and fits loads on. It even fits the washing machine and a dryer underneath.

Another thing I like is my vintage coca-cola crate. I actually collect vintage crates. As I am sure the rest of the world population does too. I bought this one last year on our trip to South Africa. I keep my cooking books in it, well cooking & drinking books. 🙂

These old rusty keys were bought during my South African trip too and they found their place on the wall above my kitchens knifes

While my Scottish -Key Holder is nesting right next to my bay window with some hand pick and dried lavender from our garden.

Last thing  are my flying ducks. J. brought them home one day and put them up,  God only knows where he found them but overhaul they fitted nicely with the theme so I didn’t complain.

Hope you are enjoying your day,

xo Ines

Brick A Brac Dubrovnik Way – Recomendations

If you ever find yourself in Dubrovnik, Croatia and you are an antique lover then you must visit this shop. Nested just above the old town, not even 10 minute walk, this place is a precious jewel. It is a family business run by Divo & Duska.

Divo is a well know restorer around Dubrovnik & Croatia and has been restoring historical monuments & objects all over the world, like Italy & France for example. Duska is a philantropist and a costume designer and that’s what makes their shop even more exclusive as they clearly know what they are dealing with.

Here you can find anything starting from old paintings, retro clothes to the china plates and fine Czech crystal. They regularly update their Facebook Starinarnica Page so make sure to pay them a visit.

You can find them on this address or their Facebook Starinarnica Page
